It’s a field day for SMART as it powers up its first 5G e-sports hub in the Philippines.
There’s no stopping SMART in leading the 5G game in the country as it unveils the first 5G-powered e-sports hub at Gariath Concepts, QC with peak speeds hitting a whopping 1Gbps. SMART also launched its 5G coverage in key CBD areas; those with Smart-cetrified handsets with 5G-activated SIMs can enjoy the super-fast data service.
Marking this milestone is the country’s first mobile phone versus PC cross-play exhibition via cloud gaming. This allows users to run games on cloud servers without the need for local devices (gaming console or PC), as long as they have a stable Internet connection.
It’s the PLDT-Smart Omega athletes armed with 5G-certified handsets against Team LuponWxC using their gaming PCs over a game of DoTA 2; the former beating the latter with a score of 34-6. One can watch the groundbreaking cross-play exhibition via Smart‘s official Facebook account.
Jane Basas, Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart, had this to say, “We kicked off this year with the country’s first 5G-powered Mobile Legends match last February. Now, we are upping the ante by powering Gariath Concepts to become the country’s first 5G-powered gaming hub. Gaming is at the forefront of technology and we believe 5G will pave the way for innovative platforms and exciting products that will dramatically enhance the experience of gamers.”
