OpenSignal, an independent mobile analytics company, recently gave Smart Communications Inc. an award after garnering a score of 42.2 in video experience. This score is way above the national average, and is ahead of its top competitors. Smart attributes this success to their “Youtube Everyday” promo, providing subscribers with access to billions of hours worth of content on the platform. Since the launch of the promo in April that lasted until October, the number of Youtube users shot up to nearly 400% and boosted traffic up to 850%.
OpenSignal measures video experience using an International Telecommunication Union (ITU)-based approach for measuring video quality, deriving parameters on measurements of video streams from the world’s largest content providers. According to PLDT-Smart’s Executive Vice President, this affirmation will drive the company to stay committed to the quality service they provide to their customers.
Smart has been stepping up in meeting the growing demand for mobile data as it continues to deploy LTE technology all over the country. As per the latest Mobile Networks Update, Smart LTE download speeds have reached a national average of 13.02 Mbps compared to the 7.34Mbps from its competitors.
Smart also won four other Awards for the fastest 4G LTE download speed, Fastest Overall download speed, Fastest 4G upload speed and Lowest 3G latency. PLDT’s fiber footprint also supports Smart’s mobile network by providing high-capacity fiber connections for LTE base stations.
