Here’s a treat to daily commuters in the metro who regularly takes the bus. Smart is powering some buses in Metro Manila with free WiFi serivce and you’ve probably seen some of these “œLive More” buses already.
Riding aboard one of these Smart WiFi-powered buses allows you to be productive with your time especially when stuck in traffic. Or give you access to your Facebook to keep your mind off watching that pirated movie you want to catch in theaters.
This WiFi service from Smart is absolutely free even for subscribers from other networks. All you need is a WiFi-enabled device and be near one of these buses (not necessarily aboard) in order to connect to a Smart-powered internet service.
Smart only partnered with those big well-maintained bus lines like FermEx, BOVJEN, Everlasting, Ismael Bus Line, and Universal Guiding but there are plans to expand their network of mobile, roving WiFi hotspots. You can find these Smart-powered buses plying key city routes which include Ayala Avenue, Baclaran, EDSA, Fairview, Lagro, Malanday, and Quiapo.
This move is well in line with Smart’s Live More campaign where they are committed to keep people connected with their love ones and avoid missing important moments in life. Smart’s free wifi service on public buses will be available only until August 31, 2012.
Now I’m not sure how safe these buses will be for you to whip out that Samsung Galaxy S3 just to check mail. CCTV cameras inside the bus will probably help deter thieves from taking advantage of these “œgold mine” buses.
