Xiaomi has recently launched two new smartphones from two different places in the world; the Xiaomi Mi 5 in Barcelona, Spain and the Xiaomi Mi 4S in their home turf. And while these handsets are never meant to compete with one another, we thought of placing them side by side to give you a better perspective of their respective features.
Looking at the table below, we can clearly see that the Mi 5 has a far more superior set of features compared to the Mi 4S. This is understandable considering that the former is Xiaomi’s flagship offering, while the latter is more of a budget-centric option.
Despite the glaring advantage that the Mi 5 has over the Mi 4S, the latter trumped the flagship on three aspects: pixel density, battery capacity and price.

By having the same screen resolution as the Mi 5, the Mi 4S has gained a nominal advantage over the former in terms of pixel density (440.58 ppi vs 427.75 ppi) thanks to its slightly smaller display. As for the battery, the Mi 4S also came out on top by having 3,260mAh battery pack compared to its Xiaomi’s new flagship handset which only has 3,000mAh battery.
It is justifiable for the Mi 4S to have a slight edge over the Mi 5 in terms of pricing since it has 25-percent lower RAM capacity, lower-tiered processor, slower on-board storage (eMMC vs UFS 2.0), and a more modest camera setup compared to the featured-packed shooter of the Mi 5.
For the sake of comparison a 64GB Xiaomi Mi 4S will cost RMB 1,699 while a Xiaomi Mi 5 64GB will set you back RMB 2,299. You can find out more about these two handset on their respective links down below.
