Samsung is reportedly on an advanced stage to bringing a breakthrough to the industry with its foldable smartphone.
GSM Arena said the Korean company has invested heavily in its research and development for the said project, which is expected to launch in February 2019 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Samsung even silently revealed a working concept for its fordable smartphone–that may be named as Galaxy X.
The firm has also tapped partners to start the supply of parts for the device by November of this year. However, names of its tech partners have yet to be disclosed.
Given this innovation, the Korean tech giant is projected to demand around $1, 850 for the smartphone.
Industry sources also said its screen will have 7.3 inches when opened and 4.5 inches when folded. The device is also expected to use OLED panels in its construction. They also anticipate that the Galaxy X will be withouth bezels to create a seamless, one-screen lock. Teccritics also expect Samsung to make the device thinner as to make it easier to fit inside pants pockets. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip may also be used to power this new product, sources said.
The exciting part is we’re only months away from knowing if Samsung will make this foldable device possible in the smartphone world.
