Samsung recently revealed the existence of Samsung Bixby, an AI interface that might just rival Siri and Cortana.
Bixby operates on the principle of the machine learning from the human user, not the other way around. Samsung claims that the interface of Bixby will be natural and intuitive enough to enforce this. Not only that, but they also aim to decrease the smartphone learning curve currently present. In short, Bixby, will arrive as an intelligent interface on Samsung devices.
Three principles dictate the functions of Bixby: Completeness, Context Awareness, and Cognitive Tolerance. This means that the AI must know how to use standard applications, know why the user needs that app, and lastly, remember what the user just commanded. Thus, we may assume that unlike other AI assistants, Bixby handles multiple commands with appropriate context.
Now, the question of whether or not Bixby will deliver as promised, remains up in the air. Samsung looks to implement this AI through smartphones, and eventually over all applicable appliances.
