Samsung changes the home innovation game by introducing the Family Hub 2.0 refrigerator at CES 2017. This next generation refrigerator features expansion from four to ten refrigerator models and improved app integration with diverse new app partners.
Successful Family Builds On Its Past Success
With the success of the Family Hub 1.0, Samsung expands its reach for the Family Hub 2.0 once it rolls out. This means it will be available in variants like 3-Door and 4-Door French Door models as well as the existing 4-Door Flex lineup. It allows consumers to choose the refrigerator that best matches their household needs.
2.0 Brings Improved App Integration and Voice Technology
Samsung also enhances the refrigerator’s utility through intuitive app integration. One great example includes the ability to determine which food items need to be restocked or bought via internal fridge cameras. These images then get added to the shopping list feature of the Family Hub. Then, users order these products through the Groceries by MasterCard app.
Besides this, the Recipe app from AllRecipes, can display recipe readouts and enlarged text. It’s perfect for anyone looking to learn a new dish, especially when multi-tasking in the kitchen.
For family communication, an easy-to-use interface comes with the 2.0. This leads to the creation of personalized profiles using avatars or personal pictures. This can be seen through the 21.5-inch LED touchscreen which acts as an interactive, digital bulletin board. Families also gain the ability, via their smartphone, to share photos, access calendars, handwrite memos, and post memos, from any location.
Convenience also comes to the forefront, thanks to Samsung’s advanced voice technology. Integerated across many 2.0 apps, users can issue voice commands to learn weather and time, add things to shopping lists, and order items online. Of course, you can also manage to-do-lists and calendars through voice commands.
Additionally, Samsung collaborated with top-notch home-focused partners. Brands include Grubhub, Nomiku, Spotify, and Glympse, which enhance the experience. Truly, the Family Hub 2.0 seems to be not just a refrigerator, but an appliance that can transform a household.
Samsung Introduces Smart Cooking Products
Samsung did not stop at the Family Hub 2.0, however. They also introduced its built-in, smart cooking line at CES 2017. This lineup includes Built-in Double and Single Wall Ovens, Built-in Gas Cooktops, Built-in Induction Cooktops, Built-in Electric Cooktops, and Built-in Range Hoods. As expected from a quality brand, they all seamlessly merge into any new kitchen design or remodel.
The Built-in Double Wall Oven touts the Samsung-made Flex Duo technology, which oversees three oven spaces. These can be individually controlled with the Samsung Smart Divider. For the Ovens, they employ SteamBake and SteamRoast functions for more flexibility options over taste and texture. Meanwhile, the Built-in Cooktops showcase powerful burners with customizable configurations. Cooking aficionados can marvel at the new Magnetic Knob feature and Virtual Flame Technology that promise precise cooking control and simplicity. This is because they simplify cleaning the cooktops, which is often a hassle when using a conventional one.
All built-in appliances from Samsung come equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity. They’re also considered smart products by the market. This means that smartphones can control these remotely. And it can be any of the aforementioned appliances: ovens, cooktops, and ranges. Finally, Bluetooth connectivity syncs the cooktop with the range hood, allowing the hood to start when using the cooktop.
Samsung’s CES booth will be up for the entirety of the convention (January 5 to 8, 2017). Check out their online newsroom for more info.
