The Samsung Galaxy Y is not a new smartphone. In fact, it’s over a year old already but was one of the hottest selling budget Android phones when it first came out. This phone was made primarily to target teens who wish to experience the basic things Android can offer without putting much of a dent on their budget.
Still targeting teens, Samsung partnered with Sanrio to bring us a Hello Kitty version of the Samsung Galaxy Y. This was just released in Germany last month but you will probably be seeing it in the grey market these days. In fact, online gadget store, Kimstore, is selling these for Php7,000 apiece which is well over the Php5,400 price they’re giving the regular version. Still, I think the limited number Kimstore has would sell well especially with the holidays drawing near.
There’s nothing different with the Helly Kitty version from the original Galaxy Y. You would still get Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered by an 832MHz processor on a 3-inch 320 x 240 screen along with a 2-megapixel camera. But you will also get the Hello Kitty theme to match your Hello Kitty ballpen, Hello Kitty notebook and whatever Hello Kitty stuff you’re collecting.
