The Samsung Galaxy X gets a lot of attention from mobile industry experts and the tech media, especially after its launch timeline continually got pushed back further and further. As apparent successors for the Galaxy S lineup, all we know is that the Galaxy X will tout a foldable display. Now, new details coming out after CES 2018 might point to more information.
Is it still a foldable phone?
While Samsung said little about the Galaxy X at CES, The Investor pointed out that they were likely working on a certain device. Specifically, this device would feature a 7.3-inch display that folded in the middle. In fact, multiple versions were shown, with some prototypes folding either inwards or outwards. For now, the inward-folding model, which protects the screen, gained the most traction. On the other hand, the outward-folding model supposedly touts higher-end technology, though no details as to what that means. Other specs were not shown, which makes sense considering we don’t even know when this will come out.
A foldable single screen
While early rumors described the Galaxy X as a dual-display device, some are now saying it will just be one panel. Other rumors also pointed towards a more tablet-shaped device with this bendable display technology in place. Of course, we cannot be sure whether it will follow this design idea, or stick to tradition.
For now, we should wait until MWC 2018, and see if Samsung will talk about the Samsung Galaxy X. Perhaps, whatever’s announced might surprise everyone.
