At first, one would think that the FM radio is a relic from the past, especially with the proliferation of music streaming and podcasts. However, Samsung might go in a completely different direction, as TagStation, owner of NextRadio, announced that Samsung will renew their pledge to keep FM radio unlocked on the Galaxy S9 lineup.
Of course, to enjoy this feature, just download the NextRadio app. However, this might only release in the US and Canada, but fingers crossed that this makes it tot he global release. Besides, an FM radio seems like a great thing to have if you need the news, and the WiFi goes out. Especially if you live in an area prone to natural disasters.
Of course, Samsung technically isn’t alone in supporting FM. LG also pledged their support in 2017, although no official news yet on their stance this year. Other devices that support an unlocked FM radio include Motorola and Alcatel.
