It has finally arrived. After a long time of speculation and anticipation, Samsung is finally launching the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Known as a major innovator of smartphones, Samsung is unveiling the newest additions to their flagship S line.

Infinity in your hand with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus

Samsung is driven by a want to make users have better experiences through their phones. Aiming to remove the unnecessary and provide optimum use, the 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 and 6.2-inch S8+ come with the revolutionary Infinity Display.

The Infinity Display combines aesthetics and technology to provide a design that maximizes its own functionality. With an impressive end-to-end screen that spills over to the sides of the phone, thus forming a seamless device where the screen just flows into the aluminum body.

The Infinity Display is more than just looks though. With bigger space, it allows for wider viewing of videos, and larger space for text screen. The seamless design brings an elegance but still providing innovation in the performance.

Photos turn into Vivid Memories

Using a  technology formerly exclusive to DSLR cameras, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus turn memories into flashbacks with their 12MP rear cameras equipped with Dual Pixel technology for faster autofocus, giving users more crisp and clear images. Working the same way a person’s eyes focuses on an object, each pixel has two photodiodes for super-fast focus. All the while larger pixels along with the brighter F1.7 lens allows bright photos at low-light conditions. A new feature to the S8 and S8 Plus Cameras is the multi-frame feature. The camera captures multiple shots and layers them to make a clear and blur-less final photo.

The front cameras of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are at 8MP. To upgrade the overall selfie experience, the cameras feature Smart Autofocus that gives clearer capture of subjects over the background. They also added a fun twist to their cameras with stamps and sticker feature. This allows users to add little drawings and other fun stuff to their selfies.

Safe and Secure

The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus also has a separated Secure Folder. It adds another layer of authentication to keep select information safe. Also, these devices are equipped with highly advanced security measures to ensure content privacy. These measures include the Iris Scanner, the new Face Recognition, and Fingerprint Scanner. The last one has its button at the back, beside the rear camera. These features provide more scurity and authentication options and can also be used interchangably depending on the users.

Rugged and Powerful

Recognizing that smartphones are nothing if always tethered to a charging cable, Samsung thought of a way to adress this. In order to support these features, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are equipped with 3,000mAh, and 3,500mAh batteries respectively. At first glance these batteries might not be impressive but the magic lies in the processor. Taking on the concern form a different angle, Samsung used a 10nm mobile processor. This means a seamless, interruption-free experience, but less battery consumption.

As IP68 certiied devices, these new smartphones are also built to last. This simply means that these phones can be in 1.5 meters of water for half an hour. Also they are dust-tight, meaning it is safe from dangers of foreign objects like sand, dust, or soil. That means users no longer need to worry about spills, dust, and their phones being submerged.

Adding a little more to an already impressive set up, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus sport a storage of 64GB. That is double its predecessor’s, and can be expandable up to 256GB.

Introducing Bixby

These new S line phones also come with an interesting new feature. Bixby is an intelligent assistant built into phone to help enhance and maximize the users experience. There are two of note elements to Bixby.

Bixby Visual, by simply using your camera categorizes an image into the following categories: text, images, shopping, QR code, location, and wines. From the recognition, it can do a number of things such as give a date about a certain place or icon. It can also gather text from image to a word file. Also, it can translate text into other languages, and in shopping. Conversely, Bixby Voice allows work with less typing. Able segregate photos in your album when asked. It can even edit photos, send texts, and so much more.

Adding more

On top of the already impressive devices these phones come with accesories to further maximize use. Introducing the Samsung DeX. Once connected to the Samsung Dex the android interface turns into a desktop interface. This allows desktop like navigation on your mobile device. A great feature of the Dex is that once disconnected, it saves whatever is happening in desktop mode and reverts to mobile mode. There is also the Gear 360 offering a new camera experience, letting users view, capture, and share memories in 360-degrees and 4k video. Finally the amped up the Gear VR which now has a controller for the ultimate immersive virtual experience. The controller allows for more freedom to navigate the different virtual worlds.
