Tech giant Samsung has been at the forefront of the smartphone industry. With great staples such as the Note4 and innovative flagships like the S7 edge, Samsung is riding high right now. However, with flagship phones going for much higher prices, Samsung still comes out with high quality machines that fit smaller budgets. Here in comes the Galaxy A5. Over the past few years the A5 has gone through changes with each annual update. This is our Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 first impression.
Immediately it is a good looking device. The unit I got was black but it was not the generic looking black, where at first look you know it’s cheap plastic. No, the 2017 edition of the A5 looks stunning with its shiny black body and barely there bezels. It really reminded me of the S7 Edge actually. The body feels hefty but comfortable to hold. Also it feels durable like the whole body seems hard.
With the Android 6.0, the UI is easier to navigate. Looking at the rest of the phone’s body, some staples are interestingly placed. For example, the speaker grille is on the right side with the lock screen button. Also, the audio jack, usually found at the top of a device is at the bottom right beside the USB Type C port. So far, the phone not only stands out but looking at it more solidifies how unique it is.
Under the hood, the Galaxy A5 is powered by a 1.9GHz octa-core CPU and with 3GB of RAM. This 5.2 inch device has impressive performance power. The display is really vibrant and bright even when lowering the brightness. The A5 is also packed with a 3,000 mAh battery that should give users enough juice to enjoy some heavy duty games. But we’re saving that for the full review. Overall, I would say that the Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 made a good first impression. Tune in for our in-depth review coming soon.
