The Realme 6i is the most affordable model in the new Realme 6 Series, but it stands on par with its siblings in terms of quality and performance. The smartphone arrives with a 6.5-inch screen, Helio G80 processor, quad rear cameras, and 5000mAh battery. But this sub-P10,000 Realme device has still much to offer, so let’s take a closer look.
Design & Construction
A notable fact about the design of the Realme 6i is that it is designed by renowned Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa, who is also responsible for the design of the award-winning Realme X Series Master Edition. Available in two colors, White Milk and Green Tea, the Realme 6i sports a polycarbonate back panel with a matte coating. The rear features vertical reflective lines (imagine a Rimowa luggage) that appear when hit by light.
Still on the rear, the device features the rear camera system (with the LED flash) stacked vertically on the upper left corner. The circular fingerprint sensor is on the upper half. A simple Realme branding is situated on the lower left of the back cover.
Turn to the left side and there are the volume controls and the SIM/SD card slot. The latter houses the card tray for two Nano SIMs and one microSD. The power button sits on the right side of the device. The headphone jack and USB C port are at the bottom. Also situated there are the main microphone and the loudspeaker.
Display & Multimedia
In front, the 6.5-inch display greets you with its narrow bezels (except for the one at the bottom) and a waterdrop notch at the top (for the front camera). The 6.5-inch display uses an IPS panel and offers a resolution of 1600 x 720 (HD+). To complement, there’s a down-firing speaker at the bottom.
Running on Realme UI, based on Android 10, this smartphone offers a lot of UX functions. This includes icon customization, System Themes, Dual Mode Music Share, and Dark Mode.
Camera
The main camera setup boasts four cameras. The main shooter is a 48MP sensor with F1.8 aperture. It works with an 8MP F2.3 ultra-wide lens, a 2MP F2.4 macro sensor, and another 2MP shooter for portraits. It can record up to 1080p at 30fps with stabilization. Taking care of your self-portraits and whatnot is the 16MP F2.0 front snapper.
Performance
For hardware power, the Realme 6i comes equipped with a MediaTek Helio G80 chipset. It is paired with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU with 3GB or 4GB of RAM. The 64GB or 128GB internal storage can still be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.
Powering this phone is a huge 5000mAh battery. It supports 18W fast charging–although it’s not the company’s proprietary VOOC feature.
The Realme 6i offers a plethora of connectivity: dual SIM, 4G LTE networks, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 5.0. It comes with GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS sensors.
