PLDT joins forces with software giant Microsoft and Asia’s leading IT Solutions company Dimension Data (formerly Datacraft) to launch best-in-class private cloud computing solutions.
Under the PLDT AppFarm Private Cloud Services portfolio, the Managed Microsoft Solutions suite of productivity and infrastructure software will be commercially available as Enterprise-grade cloud solutions. Included solutions are Microsoft enterprise applications such as Exchange Server 2010, Sharepoint Server 2010, Lync Server 2010 and Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V.
What this solution offers enterprises is a means to avail of costly but necessary applications through an opex “monthly subscription” arrangement instead of the traditional licensing model that entails significant upfront investments. With this private cloud approach, business can outsource the end-to-end implementation of their chosen Microsoft solutions on a turn-key arrangement. Businesses will still have complete control on the system and their data, with the infrastructure residing at their own premises.
Under this three-way arrangement, PLDT will carry and distribute Microsoft applications under a Service Provider Licensing Agreement (SPLA), while Dimension Data will provide infrastructure and technical support for all projects using its “Onecloud” framework.
Our collaboration with these two companies is the next big step in building up the application portfolio of our existing cloud computing brand, PLDT Appfarm,” said PLDT VP and Head of Corporate Business Group Jovy Hernandez. “With our fully managed and subscription-based offering, we are effectively providing ALPHA Enterprises with a compelling option that allows them to pursue and fulfill their envisioned Microsoft initiatives to help raise their business productivity to the level they aspire for,” Hernandez added.
