Philippines startup Salarium emerged as the grand winner for the second edition of Seedstars World, competing against 35 other startups from different countries around the world in the finals. Salarium, which offers payroll solutions for emerging markets will receive $500K in equity funding. Other finalists include Peruvian travel platform Busportal, Nairobi’s OkHi, the Brazilian hardware device Ploog, Yerevan learning management system Sololearn, and casual gaming studio The Other Guys from Argentina.
Salarium earlier received a funding via Seedstars World Crowd Fund, which allows European investors to invest with a minimum of 100£ when they qualified for the semi-final round of the competition. 5 out of 10 startups who qualified for the semi-final round were from Asia. These startups consist of Singapore’s 6Degrees, a self updating phone book, crowd sourcing concert organizer Krowdpop from Seoul, India’s Scandid app for geolocalized savings and discounts, Bangkok’s Washbox24, an automatized laundry service and Philippine payroll service Salarium.
