Ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019, OPPO already gave a sneak peek of its latest smartphone technologies in a press conference. The tech company has announced its new camera system with 10x lossless zoom and 5G-ready handsets.
The new camera system will debut to upcoming OPPO smartphones in the second quarter of 2019. The 10x lossless zoom technology makes use of triple camera setup. There’s the main sensor, a 48-megapixel Ultra Clear Master camera. The second one is a 120-degree Ultra Wide Angle lens with 15.9mm focal range. The third sensor is a Telephoto unit with a focal length of 159mm.
OPPO set up the triple camera system in a ‘periscope’ manner. The design maximizes the width and thickness of the phone; there’s a prism that reflects light at 90 degrees into the sensor and stabilizes the images as you zoom in.
Aside from its new zooming feature. OPPO also shared it’s upcoming 5G device. While yet to be named, this handset comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform and X50 modem to connect onto 5G networks. The tech company has already demonstrated the capabilities of its 5G phone, including browsing, online video replay, and video call. This device is also reported to launch in Q2 of 2019.
