The much anticipated OnePlus 6T is already being crowned as one of the best smartphones released this year. The new phone’s specifications and design take the best from the high-end spectrum but with a much more friendlier price point.
Design and Construction
Another big change for the OnePlus 6T is the fingerprint scanner. Once again the fingerprint scanner is brought to the front with the trendy embedded fingerprint scanner. The in-display fingerprint scanner, according to One Plus, is currently the fastest in-display scanner with a speed of .34 seconds.
However, following this would be the removal of the headphone jack. One Plus wanted to expand the size of the resonance chamber of the speakers and make room for other components without resizing the phone exponentially.
Display
The notch on the OnePlus 6T is similar to the Essential Phone and the Oppo R17 Pro. The teardrop notch allows for a much larger 6.41in AMOLED display. The colors are beautiful and bright with the 86% percent screen to body ratio. The sharpness is definitely there with 401 pixels per inch. However, the design leaves more to be desired.
Camera
If you’re hoping for an updated camera setup, it’s not the case for the OnePlus 6T. The OnePlus 6T offers 16 and 20MP f/1.7 with sensors that perform very similarly to OnePlus 6. The main 16MP shooter has OIS and EIS. One Plus also promises improved color reproduction and dynamic range.
However, the major software changes for the camera, such as HDR, Portrait, Studio Lighting and the new Nightscape Mode are the current front-runners for the camera software update. Nightscape Mode is designed to improve clarity and reduce noise in lowlight situations.
Performance
Similar to the OnePlus 6, the OnePlus 6T runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. It’s both available in 6GB and 8GB of RAM with 128GB and 256GB internal storage respectively. The 6T is also equipped with a better battery capacity of 3,700mAh with worry-free fast charging.
Previously, the One Plus 6 has an updated Android Pie but with the 6T, features the latest OxygenOS, with improved navigation gestures and an updated Gaming mode with floating icons.
