Obi is a fairly new player in the industry but has already launched quite a number of smartphones since its inception last year. The new OBI SF1 and SJ1.5 launch coincides with the company’s rebranding from Obi Mobile to Obi Worldphone. Obi is set to focus on the Asian and African market and battle it out with rising smartphone companies such as Xiaomi and Huawei. Obi is confident in making an impact on the emerging markets especially with the backing of former Apple CEO John Sculley.
In case you’re wondering if the OBI SF1 and SJ1.5 smartphones will set foot in the country, the answer is yes. Few weeks ago, we met with OBI executives who flew in from the US and discussed their plans of bringing the Obi smartphones in the Philippines.
The OBI SF1 and SJ1.5 smartphones are set to hit the global market by October and we’re expecting it to be launched in the country on the same period.
The OBI SF1 is priced at USD 249 (around Php 11.6K) and USD 199 (around Php 9.2k) while the OBI SJ1.5 has an SRP of USD 129, roughly Php 6,000.
