Today, we review the O+ Presto 700 LTE Smartphone. At less than Php 2,500, it is a very affordable LTE smartphone. However, is it just one trick pony or does it have any other cool features? Let’s find out in our O+ Presto 700 LTE Review.
O+ Presto 700 LTE Smartphone Review – Design and Construction
The silver bezels and back case look good against the phone’s black body. The combination makes it look professional and reliable. As for design, it’s pretty simple. The plastic polycarbonate body was put together so that the bezels would but still add an accent to the overall look. On the the right side of the phone are the volume control and screen lock buttons. The top of the phone holds the audio jack and the micro USB port. At the back is the rear camera with flash, at the bottom is the loudspeaker. On the top front of the phone is the front camera and at the bottom of the display are the BACK, HOME, and OPTIONS buttons.
O+ Presto 700 LTE Smartphone Review – Display and Multimedia
The O+ Presto 700 has a 5-inch capacitive LCD display which makes it nice and wide but not so wide that it hinders functionality. The resolution is at 854 x 480 Pixels, 196 ppi so watching videos on it is pretty all right. Also simply looking at pictures are pretty not really stunning but it also isn’t bad, the display looks crisp and can handle higher resolution photos.
As for the sounds it is surprisingly good. With the speakers a the max I can listen to a song and hear the different instruments used for it. Talking parts on videos are also pretty solid. What I’m trying to say is if your watching or listening to good quality material, there’s a pretty good chance the O+ Presto 700 LTE can handle it.
O+ Presto 700 LTE Smartphone Review – Performance
So far this phone has been pretty solid and even pleasantly surprising but here is where I was concerned when I first unboxed this. The Presto runs on a 1.3GHz Quad Core Cortex-A7 processor and has a system memory of 512mb RAM. The memory is a little small for my liking but at this price point it is fair. So I installed the game Subway Surfers and it ran smoothly which is good. However, it is a brand new unit so it doesn’t have as much apps as a normal smartphone would have. On the subject of other apps, the O+ Presto 700 LTE comes preloaded with social media basics – Facebook, Twitter and, Instagram.
The phone was put through the Antutu Benchmark, PCMark and, Quadrant to see how it scores and the results are as follows:
Antutu Benchmark: 15884
PcMark: 1396
Quadrant: 2144
O+ Presto 700 LTE Smartphone Review – Camera
The O+ Presto 700 LTE has an 8 MP rear Camera with flas and an autofocus feature. The front camera on the other hand is at 5MP. There is not much wow factor with these cameras but they are reliable. The pictures are average but when we look at the pictures up close the image details are still visible despite a little blur. Below are samples of the rear camera shots.
O+ Presto 700 LTE Smartphone Review – Call Quality
The phone has decent call quality. There was not any noise or voice drops. Clarity of course depends on location but, even as I was walking I was able to have a decent phone call on the O+ Presto 700 LTE. I used the headset as well for this phone and it was alright.
O+ Presto 700 LTE Smartphone Review – Connectivity
So the main draw to the O+ Presto 700 LTE is that it is an LTE smartphone so connectivity is good. Actually I was impressed. I watched Youtube videos on the phone and even if it takes a short while to start, it does give a solid quality video. It did not stop and go down a resolution and continued at the quality it began. Mind you, I made sure I had the “LTE” icon present when I tried this to make sure I was testing the feature out. Even on 3G the phone was pretty solid – it loaded up google pretty quick, whereas some other phones might take much longer. The only feature this phone lacks is USB OTG. But, other than that it has Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio, the usual.
O+ Presto 700 LTE Smartphone Review – Battery
The O+ Presto 700 LTE has a 2000mAh li-on battery that is an average battery for a phone at this price. With WiFi and data turned on, it can last up to 12 hours when just casually browsing from time to time. For video watching at full brightness, the phone can last up to around 6 hours. For a phone that is advertised for greater connectivity, I’d say that the battery is a bit average. It can last a while but if a user were to constantly watch videos over Facebook for example, I’d say have a powerbank handy.
O+ Presto 700 LTE Smartphone Review – Conclusion
There are a few things to consider before purchasing the O+ Presto 700 LTE. First, the memory is 512mb RAM, that means this phone is more prone to lags. Even with social media apps, switching out can be slow. But if users keep their apps to basic social media and some very casual games, the phone is alright. Another thing is the battery which is a bit over average but probably will not last a day for those who enjoy being online 24/7. This phone I would say is good for those who are just starting out with smartphones. Also for those who just want a simple phone with good connectivity. All things considered with the LTE feature, and beautiful looking display, I would say that the O+ Presto 700 LTE is a good deal at Php 2,188 through Smart.
