The device builds on bleeding-edge visual computing technology and sports a sleek, new design. It also ships with both a remote and a game controller, allowing a complete living room entertainment experience.
NVIDIA SHIELD TV Streaming Services
NVIDIA SHIELD TV brings rich visual experiences through 4K HDR support, plus 3 times the performance of other streamers currently in the market. Other than that, it also delivers Amazon Video in 4K HDR, which means access to the most open catalog of media. Support for Netflix, Youtube, Google Play Movies, and VUDU also exist.
Speaking of Youtube, its flagship TV app will also be available for SHIELD in the coming months. It specializes in immersive, 360-degree viewing experiences.
NVIDIA SHIELD TV Gaming
SHIELD TV is currently the only media streamer with an extremely wide range of gaming capabilities. The rich assortment of content alone stands out, with the ability to stream hits like Watch Dogs 2, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and Tomb Raider.
NVIDIA SHIELD TV Home AI
NVIDIA also aims to bring advanced AI features to the SHIELD TV. Google Assistant aims to attain integration on TV. This means the usage of voice commands to replace the traditional remote setup. Plus, Google Assistant can help better find content and answer questions.
Meanwhile, SmartThings Hub technology integration turns the SHIELD into a smart home hub that can connect to hundreds of smart home devices. This can be expanded upon with the NVIDIA SPOT, an AI mic accessory that extends intelligent control throughout the house.
Pricing and Availability
The SHIELD TV is available for pre-order now in the US, Canada and select European regions later this month for USD 199.99, including controller and remote. The SHIELD Pro will also be available later this month with controller, remote with headset jack and 500GB of storage. A separate version of SHIELD, with custom software optimised for China, will be available later this year.
