We got to try out two of Nokia’s latest smartphones sporting the latest Symbian OS named Belle, the Nokia 700 and Nokia 701. There were three that was announced last month but Nokia decided not to bring the music smartphone Nokia 600 to the country due to price competition with other current Nokia phones.
When I tried Symbian Belle, I was impressed with the speed improvement over the first Symbian but I’m not sure if it’s mainly due to the 1GHz powering the new Nokia phones. It doesn’t have much difference from Anna aesthetically so the best way to tell if it’s Belle is the pull-down status bar and notifications straight from the lockscreen. Overall, Belle feels much better, smoother and will simply be a treat to Symbian fans out there.
Onto the phones.
Nokia 700
We talked about the Nokia 700 before. It’s more of ladies phone with its slim, sexy form and variety of colors. This small phone packs a 1GHz processor, a 3.2-inch AMOLED Gorilla Glass display, a 5-megapixel fixed focus camera and a 2GB storage with room for a microSD expansion.

Nokia 701
At first glance, the Nokia 701 looked just like the Nokia C7. I won’t fault you if you thought it was the C7. It’s actually an updated C7 with a 1GHz processor (compared to 680MHz) and Symbian Belle. It has the same 3.5-inch screen size but Nokia claims the 701 has the brightest screen for a smartphone. Frankly speaking, I couldn’t tell the difference between the screen of the 700 and 701.
Just like the C7, the 701 also has the same 8-megapixel camera and 8GB internal storage with microSD support. The Nokia 701 also has a TV-out by way of the 3.5mm port on top, you just need the necessary 3.5mm to RCA cable for it.

The Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 are set to arrive this October but prices are not yet set on stone. Estimated price for the 700 is in the P10k ““ P15k range while the 701 will be in the P15k ““ P20k area. If you really want the Nokia 600, perhaps the grey market can help you.

Noooo…. we want the Nokia 600!!
13,990 and 15,490!

Hi sir, could you help me out? I’m planning to buy a new phone, I’m considering an iphone but then I came accross nokia 701 and it caught my interest. I know iphone4 is better in so many aspects but practically a lower priced phone, with decent features, is also ideal. I don’t really need a super high tech phone, i just want one that would serve its purpose well. What is worth choosing based on price and specs, n701 or iphone4? Thanks!
based on specs it’s definitely the iphone4. you would get the most out of it compared to the 701. dont want to try android? they have lots of phones in different price points. the recently released sony ericsson xperia ray has very good specs and features for its price.
thanks! i’m going to consider your advise 🙂
for me, belle fp1 is better than gingerbread
Hi there Mr. Calvin as of now how much is Nokia 701??
