Last night, Nokia officially launched their latest flagship phone in the country, the Lumia 1020, which boasts of a superb imaging technology and a second-generation 41 megapixel sensor.
The Nokia PureView 808 introduced last year shocked the world with its 41-megapixel sensor. However, it was somewhat big for your pocket and looks rather unappealing for a mobile phone. You can say that the new Lumia 1020 is the PureView 808 done right, it’s now way slimmer and lighter, and still packs a really good camera.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 has a second generation 41 megapixel sensor, six lens Carl Zeiss optics with optical image stabilization built-in, yet manages to squeeze the whole camera module into a slim frame. There’s just a slight protrusion at the back for the lens. It has a dual-capture functionality that can take a high resolution 38-megapixel image for you to zoom-crop/edit, and a 5-megapixel picture for social sharing.
Camera is also equipped with Xenon flash while a LED flash can also be used while recording Full HD videos. Along with Nokia Rich Recording feature, it can handle sound pressure levels six times louder than conventional smartphone microphones.
This device runs on Windows Phone 8 and has the Nokia Pro Cam included aside from the Nokia Smart Camera app found in other Lumia devices. This app allows you to manually control the camera’s exposure settings which includes ISO, aperture, and shutter speed.
Other specs for the Lumia 1020 includes a 4.5-inch WXGA AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass 3, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage (no microSD), a 1.2 megapixel HD wide angle front camera, LTE, NFC, wireless charging, and a 2,000mAh battery.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 will be available starting on October 11 with a retail price of Php35,650 and a free Nokia Camera Grip valued at P4,000 included. This handset comes in black, white, and yellow colors.
