Nokia’s new flagship, the Nokia 8, officially arrived in the Philippines last September 29.
New home to Nokia phones, HMD Global’s launch targets Filipino consumers from different market segments. In addition to the Nokia 8, the company also released three other phones – the Nokia 3, 5, and 6, each at different price points.
The Firsts of Many
Nokia 8 features the first-ever Dual-Sight camera, allowing simultaneous use of both sensors. Each camera shows its preview split-screen mode, encouraging more collaboration in selfies. Both ZEISS co-developed sensors run at 13MP.
Moreover, the launch marks Android coming to Nokia. The OS’s dominance in the global market proves Nokia’s step in the right direction. Equipped with support for the latest versions of Android, Nokia phones have gone future-proof.
Nokia’s new flagship also pioneers 360-degree spatial surround sound with its new OZO audio technology. This high-fidelity playback should guarantee a boost 4K video mobile experiences.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835-powered phone boasts a seamless unibody design. Its chassis features a full-length, graphite shielded copper cooling pipe, thus dissipating heat from power-intensive processes. Nokia 8 runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1, and comes in single and dual-SIM variants.
More Affordable Options
At a more affordable price, the Nokia 3 comes in an aluminum frame, uncommon to more budget-friendly phones. It features a 5-inch Gorilla glass HD panel, 8MP cameras, LTE connectivity, and a 128Gb-capable microSD card slot.
The Nokia 5, on the other hand, packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor and 2Gb RAM. It features a 13MP camera with dual-tone flash, a 5.2-inch HD screen and a fingerprint sensor. The device starts with16Gb of storage, expandable to 128GB.
Another octa-core smartphone, the Nokia 6, has a 5.5-inch full-HD display. The device features a 16MP main camera, 8MP front cameras, and 32Gb of internal storage. Dolby’s Atmos complement the dual, front-facing speakers.
Availability and pricing
Nokia 8 units come in two variants: steel and polished blue. Nokia 3, 5 and 6, on the other hand, offer a wider range of color selections.
