If you’re a League of Legends (LoL) player sitting on a Globe internet connection and experiencing frequent lags during the game, you’re not alone. Other LoL players’ game experience is also being affected when they play with Globe users that lag.
Garena PH, an online gaming services provider exclusively distributing League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, and Defense of the Ancients, has confirmed and pinpointed the cause. It seems that Globe users are having a hard time connecting to LoL servers (hosted by PLDT data centers) during peak time due to Globe’s limited bandwidth when connecting to a PLDT data server. And this is a problem when web sites, forums, services hosted by PLDT are heavily accessed and when max concurrent users have been reached.
According to an announcement made by Garena PH, Globe has no immediate plans to resolve this issue which can directly be remedied by upgrading the bandwidth allocated to connections to PLDT data centers.
Right now, Garena PH is looking into alternative ways to divert and re-route traffic of Globe users accessing the League of Legends servers. However, with no immediate solution in sight, they recommend playing on a PLDT internet line or in cafes subscribed to PLDT DSL.
