Online reports have it that Apple might be collaborating with MediaTek for modems of the upcoming iPhone models ditching Qualcomm, the previous supplier of Apple for their modems.
It has been known that Apple has an on-going controversy with Qualcomm which according to online news reports, is one of the reasons why Apple is considering to switch to MediaTek.
A report from Wall Street Journal stated that the Apple-MediaTek partnership might be extended to smart speakers, wireless charging devices, and wireless connection systems. It also cited that MediaTek has enough resources and pricing apt to supply Apple.
Aside from this, MediaTek is also said to have technological competitiveness, comprehensive product blueprints, and reliable logistic support, all of which are factors that Apple requires for modem solutions of their line-up. MediaTek has also been known for their processors equipped on entry-level and mid-range Android smartphones.
