Lots in store for NBA fans in the PH looking for quality content on TV or online.
Global sports and media company NBA announces a multiyear partnership with media network Cignal TV, Inc. and leading telecommunications company SMART to deliver quality content through free-to-air, satellite television and digital streaming.
“The NBA restart is set against a uniquely challenging moment in time for our fans in the Philippines, who are among the most passionate and dedicated NBA supporters in the world,” said NBA Asia Managing Director Scott Levy. “We are excited to partner with Cignal and Smart to bring NBA games to a nationwide audience, and we hope to play a role in lifting the spirits of Filipinos by bringing our fans together through their shared love of the game.”
Free-to-air channels TV5 and ONE Sports will broadcast live NBA games starting July 31 including four games every week. Both channels will air-select “seeding games” and playoffs through the first and second rounds. Meanwhile, the whole Conference Finals will be televised by both channels, but the 2020 NBA Finals can only be watched exclusively on TV5.
This partnership prompts Cignal to launch its localized NBA TV Philippines featuring live games and original programming in HD along with “The Game You Love is Home” campaign that will be available on select postpaid and prepaid HD plans. SMART will also live-stream NBA TV Philippines to its paid subscribers, along with expanding its premium live subscription service, the NBA League Pass. Fans can watch out for SMART’s relaunch of NBA.com/Philippines where fans can access game highlights, stats, scores, and exclusive features from sports journalists.
