Mobile games are a great way to pass the time: whether you’re stuck in traffic, waiting in line, or bored out of your wits at home, you always have the option to just whip out your phone and play anything you like. It’s twice as fun when you’re playing with friends, so today we’ve compiled the Top 5 Multiplayer games the whole gang can enjoy. All of these are available on both the Google Playstore and the Apple App Store for free!
5. Coup
Originally a card game, Coup requires you to step up your bluffing game. There’s a quick tutorial to help you learn the basics and two multiplayer modes that allow you to play either with a party you created or with random strangers online. There are also card variants you can purchase in-app, including the art from the physical card set.
4. Town of Salem
Over the past few years, Town of Salem has gained a cult following which enabled the developers to create an expanded version called The Coven. Both the base game and the Coven version can be accessed through the mobile app. With ToS, you can create a party with your friends and let the game’s algorithm fill the empty slots in your lobby with other players. The goal is to act according to the role given to you: whether it be a godfather to the mafia, a serial killer, a doctor, or the town mayor. There’s an in-game chat room you can use to communicate with the other players in the town, and it’s up to you how you will work with the other town citizens or ultimately deceive them and escape lynching!
Town of Salem never ceases to be entertaining, as there are limitless possibilities of how a game will turn out. Will you betray your friends if it means saving the town or choose the side of neutrality?
3. SAS: Zombie Assault 4
SAS4 is such an underrated game: it has great controls, various multiplayer options, and can be played across different platforms. You can even connect your mobile account with your Steam account and sync your data. Build a team of four and take on different missions with the multiplayer mode. There are also three player classes you can choose from: Assault, Medic, or Heavy. This makes it ideal to play with friends so you can assign which one will be the Tank and which one is in charge of healing.
Once you and your friends reach Level 50, you can start playing the Nightmare Mode which will give you harder-to-kill zombies but also rare weapons and game rewards!
2. Tacticool
Still on early access at the Google Playstore, I recommend that you install this game while it’s still free. Tacticool is a 5v5 top-down shooting game reminiscent of Counterstrike with a splash of Team Fortress 2. The goal is to wipe out the enemy team, take the money bag, and score the majority out of 100 points. So far there are four different maps (one even has zombie soldiers!), and a set of Operator characters you can collect and choose from.
Another thing to rave about Tacticool is its versatility. You can adjust the graphics settings from 30fps to 60fps and choose a resolution best fit for your phone’s specs.
1. Identity V
I just simply cannot stress out enough how awesome this game is! From the graphics down to the gameplay, it definitely is worth raving about. Now that there’s a duo hunter mode, you can tag team with a friend in hunting down survivors. You can also play with three other friends and work together to escape challenging maps.
There are plenty of interesting characters to choose from: each with their own special skills and characteristics. You can also customize your favorites with different skins and accessories you can purchase in-game.
Identity V also has a Custom Mode, where you can invite four other friends to play with you and decide who gets to be the hunter. Exhilarating and extremely addicting, this game is definitely one of my favorites.
