In the latest findings from the Asia Network Quality Report of J.P. Morgan Securities for the 4th quarter of 2016, data speeds in the Philippines have improved. Based on the report, the average LTE speed clocked in at 8.24 mbps, almost a whole mb increase from the previous quarters 7.27 mbps average.
Smart Investing to Improve LTE Speed
Local telco giant Smart topped LTE download speeds at 9.17 mbps. On top of that Smart also generated fast 3G speeds at 2.85 mbps, the fastest 3G download speed for NCR. The same report also collected data that showed speeds of upto 7.39 mbps in the Visayas region and 9.99 Mbps in Metro Manila.
These improvements happened thanks in large part to the investments made by operators to improve mobile speeds. These investments were made in the past year, and more development is in the process. Smart has asked for patience from its subscribers as these undertaking might affect their data experience. However, it is all headed to better service in the future.
