LinkedIn’s latest report has revealed the five fastest growing jobs in the Philippines, namely data scientist, application development analyst, back end developer, full stack engineer, and sales development representative.
The professional network analyzed millions of unique, user-input job titles from the last five years for their 2019 Emerging Jobs in the Philippines Report. In its study, LinkedIn also found out that while the top in-demand jobs of today are related to technology, many of them still require management and communication skills. With the varied and diverse demands of the roles, employees must have a hybrid set of complementary skills, fusing digital competency with soft skills.
The LinkedIn report also named the top skills required for each top emerging job. For data scientists, knowledge in data analysis, Python, SQL, programming, and machine learning are a must. Meanwhile, application development analyst posts require skills in SQL, HTML, JavaScript, JAva, and Cascading Style Sheets.
Back end developers and full stack engineer must know JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, Cascading Style Sheets, and jQuery. Finally, sales development representatives need skills on customer service, sales, leadership, management, and marketing.
Among the driving force to the rise of hybrid skills are the evolution of business process outsourcing (BPO) as well as the ongoing digitalization in the public and private sectors. At the same time, the country’s emerging startup scene–in fintech, agriculture, retail, and engineering, among others–also contributes to such demands.
