LG Philippines just launched its latest flagship phone, the LG Optimus G Pro, which will go head to head with other top smartphones in the market today.
While other current flagship phones top at a 5-inch display, the LG Optimus G Pro uses a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display on a Corning Gorilla 2 Glass. That’s the same size as the Samsung Galaxy Note II but with a higher resolution. The design follows that of the LG Optimus G but with slightly more rounded corners.
The Optimus G Pro is equipped with a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor along with 2GB RAM, which is the same setup as that of the HTC One. It has a 16GB internal storage plus a slot for a microSD card.
This phone is also equipped with NFC and an IR Blaster and has support for LTE. If you have a TV or a system that supports Miracast, the LG Optimus G Pro supports that for easy sharing.
The back panel is made of polycarbonate with those holographic square bits that reminds us of the back panel design on the LG Nexus 4. As for cameras, there’s a 13-megapixel at the back and a 2.1-megapixel at the front and both are capable of recording Full HD videos. Battery life on this phone is rated at 3,140mAh which is the highest in its class.
Specs are good but there are also some cool features that makes it at par or even better than other brands.
The QRemote is a quick way for you to control any electronic appliance regardless of brand via its IR blaster. Whether it’s the TV, the air-conditioning, the stereo, there’s a wide range of appliance support.
You can also take photos and record videos with both front and rear cameras on at the same time. There’s also the “œCheese” command so you can take a photo simply by saying “œcheese”. Really useful if you’re holding the phone in a way that it’s hard to hit the shutter button. For recording videos, this phone supports pause/resume and can take stills in the middle of recording. The camera can also take VR Panorama which is similar to the Photo Sphere found in Google devices for 360 panning shots.
The Quick Memo popularized by older LG Optimus phones is still around. There’s also that feature that pauses the video you are watching when you’re not looking at the screen and resumes when you do.
The LG Optimus G Pro is a smartphone loaded with interesting features and specs that should do well for at least a couple of years plus a battery that’s clearly above its peers. It is already available in the market for Php27,990 and comes in black and white.
