Bang-for-the-buck is what many of us Pinoys look for when choosing a new gadget. This “œneed” to maximize what we get for the least amount of monies. It drove the market for new players in the mobile phone market. But this time, LG, a world leader in electronics, releases their line of budget smartphones that surely packs a mean 1-2 punch for less.
We have the LG L40, the entry-level smartphone from the L-series range which was launched last month together with the LG L70 and LG L80.
It’s packaged in a tiny box that contains all the necessary accessory for you to embark on your smartphone journey. It contains 1x data cable, 1x power adapter and a pair of earphones.
The L40 feels compact and solid and is about the size of the Samsung Galaxy Y.
The back cover has a non-slip dotted design that makes holding the phone secure. And you’ll also find the 3 megapixel camera lacking an LED flash.
On the left side, you have the volume up/down buttons and on the other side, the lock/unlock/power button. That’s about all the physical buttons you’ll get in the L40.
Looking at the front side, you’ll see the adequately sized 3.5″ screen with 320×480 pixels, which puts the pixel density at about 165 ppi. Being an entry-level smartphone, you don’t get a front facing camera in the L40. It does, however, has a light sensor and proximity sensor. Despite the screen size, you’ll find that it’s more vibrant and brighter than most of the smartphones in this price range as it boasts a whopping 16 million color range.
The battery size is adequate a 1,540mhz for an entry-level smartphone. But given that the L40 is a dual-sim phone, you might want to carry your charger around.
It won’t blow you away with performance, but it’s adequate enough to do daily tasks like surfing the web, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and light gaming. Did I mention that it runs Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) without a hiccup? Well, it does.
The LG L40 has an SRP of Php 4,790.
