LG broached the idea of rebranding its flagship in an attempt to face its more popular competitors head on. This includes apparently borrowing most of the iPhone X’s design language, including the infamous iPhone X notch, in a leak TechnoBuffalo reported today.
The infamous iPhone X notch: is there a need for it?
While the iPhone X’s notch drew criticism from many a frustrated consumer, Android vendors clearly like the idea. In fact, today’s mantra seems to be the smaller the bezels, the better. This leaves out little room for the front-facing camera and sensors, though. It also provides no space for technology powering the iPhone X’s Face ID feature. Enter: the notch.
The notch trend initially began with Essential Phone, but only ever became this popular since the iPhone X launched. While vendors like Samsung poked fun at this concept just recently, others plan to follow suit. Rumors of the OnePlus 6 sporting a similar notch have, in fact, surfaced online.
