Lenovo has teamed up with the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards Foundation, Inc. as the latter’s exclusive technology partner for the 9th TAYO Awards. The TAYO Awards is the country’s leading annual search that aims to discover and recognize exceptional organizations of young Filipinos that have contributed to the progress of their communities or schools through innovative and valuable projects.
TAYO’s advocacy of promoting the active involvement of Filipino youth in nation building fits perfectly with Lenovo’s “œFor Those Who Do” campaign, which focuses on actions and achievements. The company’s brand campaign revolves around the idea that Lenovo products are “œfor those who do” or “œDO-ers” who see technology as an integral part of their lives and a tool to help them achieve their goals.
As the TAYO Awards’ exclusive technology partner, Lenovo laptops and desktops will be used throughout the search for screening, evaluation, validation, tabulation and presentation during the Area Finals and National Finals Week that will take place on September 20 to 22 and October 23 to 26, respectively.
This year’s TAYO Awards received 202 entries from youth organizations nationwide. Entries will be judged based on 1) impact of the project to stakeholders; 2) spirit of volunteerism and citizenship; 3) creativity and innovation; 4) sustainability; and, 5) effective use of resources. TAYO winners will all receive Php 50,000 to help fund existing and future projects.
Lenovo will also donate a Lenovo IdeaPad S100 netbook to each of the 10 youth organization winners. The Lenovo IdeaPad S100 netbook is a perfect DO machine for the winners of TAYO. Weighing less than a kilo, the new IdeaPad S100, which features a 10.1 inch slim backlit LED display and premium AccuType keyboard, will serve as a perfect computing device for their organization’s dynamic and mobile operations.
To reward the organization that has internalized the “œDo” mindset and embodied the “œDO-er” lifestyle with their use of technology, the winner of the IT category will receive a Lenovo IdeaPad Tablet K1. The IdeaPad Tablet K1, which runs on Android 3.1, comes preloaded with more apps and is uniquely designed for true HD entertainment, nonstop social networking and unlimited web browsing allowing young consumers to do anything, anywhere, anytime so they can do more amazing things for their community.
Paolo Benigno Aquino IV, President, TAYO Awards Foundation, Inc. said: “œThe TAYO Awards Foundation recognizes the need for a partner that can help bridge the technology and communication divide through the latest technology. Lenovo, a leader in technology and innovation, was selected as a partner because the company shares the same belief that today’s youth are doers, capable of coming up with ideas and projects that will make an impact on our society.”
Aquino continued, “œTAYO has shown that a good number of Filipino youth are active, involved and truly care for the country. We are grateful to Lenovo for providing TAYO winners with Lenovo PCs. This donation will surely increase the effectiveness and efficiency of TAYO projects to benefit the communities they serve.”
