Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 and Huawei Y6 Pro 2019
Huawei’s mobile innovation continues with the introduction of two mid-tier priced smartphones, the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 and Y7 Pro 2019. On similar grounds, both of the Y-series phones feature a dewdrop display and 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM storage. But then again, can the bigger model really trump over the former? Let’s compare each of the smartphone’s specs side-by-side to find out.

Design and Construction
Both smartphones look quite similar alongside each other if it weren’t for Huawei Y7 Pro 2019’s larger dewdrop screen display coming in at 6.26-inch. It also exudes a more simplistic, elegant design evident in its ceramic-like body and curved rear cover; users can choose between the classic Aurora Blue or Midnight Black color.
However, it’s hard to dismiss the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 just yet with its 87% screen-to-body ratio clocking in a 6.09-inch Dewdrop HD+ display. What it lacks in size, it makes up for its TÜV Rheinland certified screen that blocks out harmful blue light emissions–a plus point for readers and those on their mobiles all day.
Display and Multimedia
Even though Huawei Y7 Pro 2019’s screen resolution (1520 x 720 HD+ IPS and 269 ppi) is surprisingly a notch lower than Y6 Pro 2019 at 720 x 1560 and 282 ppi, the former offers greater saturation, clarity, and a more colorful display when watching videos or taking rich tone photos at any angle.
Software
What’s uncanny is that the Y6 Pro 2019 operates on Android 9 Pie which is more up-to-date compared to Y7 Pro 2019 that runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. One can assume it’s only for compensation, given that Y7 Pro 2019 performs faster during heavy app usage thanks to its Qualcomm 450 Octacore chipset with 3GB RAM + 32 GB ROM. Both units support an expandable memory of up to 512GB via microSD card for extra storage needs.
Camera
The Y6 Pro 2019 creates a stunning selfie in its 8MP front camera that’s also equipped with Selfie Toning Flash 2.0; while its 13MP (f/1.8) AI rear camera facilitates in letting 50% more light to enhance the quality of low-light photos. Y7 Pro 2019 is tough to beat, though, because of its AI 13MP + 2MP dual-lens rear camera and a 16MP front camera promising the “perfect selfie” sans editing.
Performance and Battery
The Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 has got more functionality with its lasting battery power at 4000mAh as opposed to Y6 Pro 2019’s 3020mAh power. The former can run for hours even on multiple apps than the latter indeed.
Quality-wise, Y7 Pro 2019 priced at P9,990 is the way to go and it wouldn’t hurt to shell out a couple of bucks for its premium features. It has a clearer resolution to boot at 6.26-inch HD + Huawei Dewdrop display for ultimate viewing experience; a power-packed Qualcomm 450 and Adreno 506 chipset for faster processing in between heavy app usage; a 4000mAh-strong battery, and a 13MP + 2MP dual-lens rear camera with AI features to take in-depth quality photos.
However, the Y6 Pro 2019 priced at P6,990 is just as good as any alternative if you want the Y-series smartphone experience on a budget.
