The awaited Huawei Mate 20 series has been introduced officially after months of speculation from avid followers. The Huawei Mate 20, along with the 20 Pro and 20X now have their specs confirmed. What’s the difference?
Design & Construction
While the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro can be told apart because of their notches, the 20X stands out due to its size. All are encased with a dust and splash resistant exterior, with the Pro even being water resistant. They also sport a Corning Gorilla Glass protection for added durability. The Mate 20 comes in Midnight Blue, Twilight and Black, while the Pro is available in Emerald Green, Midnight Blue, Twilight, Pink Gold and Black. The 20X has a more limited range with its Midnight Blue and Phantom Silver variants.

The Mate 20X is designed for creators and gamers, hence its large OLED display. It can also be used with the M-Pen but the said accessory is sold separately and there are no existing slots in the phone to put it in. By design alone, the 20X might be a direct competition for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
Display
The Mate 20X markets itself as the largest gaming phone to date. Boasting a total display area of 7.2 inches, the Mate 20X is built for immersive gameplay. The 346ppi might be a downside, but it’s a small price to pay given its other features. The Mate 20 has a higher pixel density of 381ppi for its 6.53-inch screen, and the Pro has the highest pixel density of 538ppi despite having the smallest screen amongst the three at 6.39 inches. Both the Pro and 20X sport OLED displays, while the Mate 20 still has an LCD capacitive touchscreen.

Camera
The Huawei Mate 20 Series first made heads turn because of the triple rear cameras present in each model. The Mate 20 carries a 12MP+16MP+8MP camera at the back, with a 24MP front camera. The Pro and the 20X on the other hand, has a much more impressive set of 40MP+20MP+8MP lenses for its main camera, and a 24MP front camera for selfies. All of the lenses in this series are powered by Leica optics.
Performance
All three phones are running on the latest Kirin 980 chipset, overpowering the P20 series in terms of performance. All three models have high RAMs and storage capacities, giving you enough space for high-resolution pictures and videos, with lots of memory left for keeping a collection of games. The lowest variant would be the Mate 20’s 4GB+128GB Storage, which is still pretty amazing. As for battery capacity, the Mate 20 Series comes with hefty batteries that can last you more than a day of heavy use. The Mate 20 has a 4000mAh capacity, the Pro has 4200mAh, and with the Mate 20X clocking in at 5000mAh.
