The arrival of the HTC Wildfire S is getting imminent and we got word from YugaTech that it will be getting a Php14,995 Php15,500 SRP once it becomes available next week. A bit higher than what I expected (13k) but it’s below the price of the original HTC Wildfire when it was released.
I was a fan of the HTC Wildfire when I laid my hands on it the first few days it got here. It’s a solid, well-built mid-range phone during its days that doesn’t look cheap. My only qualm with it really was the QVGA resolution and HTC fixed that with the Wildfire S by giving it the standard 320 x 480 (HVGA) treatment. HTC also bumped the processor speed from 528 MHz to 600 MHz and gives it Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
So would you rush out and get one of these HTC Wildfire S next week?
It’s still a tough call. What I still like about it is the HTC premium design that you will get. The beautifully-crafted body made from a single aluminum block that HTC’s known for, the Gorilla Glass display, and also the gorgeous HTC Sense UI. It’s a fancy little phone.
However, the price is really turning me off. Maybe shave off a thousand or two then we can talk. P15k is a bit of a reach if what you’ll only be getting is a 600 MHz processor. The Samsung Galaxy Ace, which I think is its direct rival from other side of the fence is at around P14k has a 800 MHz processor and a bigger screen at 3.5″. Granted that it only comes with Android Froyo, it won’t be long till the Gingerbread update for it becomes available.
So I’m going to go wait and see how the shops will price theirs before suggesting this phone. If you’re really eyeing this phone for quite some time now, I won’t hold you back. You might want to get the P14k pre-order price from Top Electronics for that.
Oh to the ladies who are wondering about the pink color, I’m not sure if it will be available here. I think it’s supposed to be the purple one.
