Following the defacement of the Commission of Election’s website, a group of hackers who refers to themselves as Lulzsec Pilipinas claims that they’ve managed to take hold of the agency’s database and have uploaded it online.
Along with the information that are readily available to the public, the 340GB worth of data that the hackers have uploaded contains the blueprint of COMELEC’s website, voter’s data, not to mention sensitive information that are included on the voter’s registration.
These files are accompanied by a ReadMe text which states that “some of the tables are encrypted by COMELEC”, but Lulzsec Pilipinas claims that they have the aptitude and algorithm to decrypt it.
A one-two punch with a possible haymaker in the wing
Needless to say, COMELEC has suffered a major blow with the recent hacking incident on its website which is then followed by this online leak. To make matters worse though, this doesn’t seem to be the end of the poll body’s woes if we are to believe the more recent post of Lulzsec Pilipinas on its Facebook page.
According to the group, it will leak the “financial accounts” of members of the Commission on Election. At the time of writing, however, the said post can no longer be found on the group’s Facebook page.
