This didn’t came in as a surprise. Google is the best place to work according to Fortune:
Google makes its debut in the number one position on FORTUNE’s 10th annual “100 Best Companies to Work For” list. At Google you can enjoy free gourmet meals; do your laundry; drop off your dry cleaning; get an oil change and get a massage all onsite. Work is such a cozy place that it’s sometimes difficult for Google employees to leave the office, which is precisely how the company justifies the expenses, none of which it breaks out of its administrative costs. Engineers can spend 20% of time on independent projects–no wonder Google gets 1,300 resumes a day. {source: Forbes}
Every other tech guy wants dreams of working for Google since it went public a couple years ago. I know I do. The closest I worked on a similar working environment was Microsoft Great Plains years ago. Flexi-time (24/7), bottomless drinks, sleeping quarters, huge desk/cubicle space, exercise/gym room, TV rooms, kids playpens, very fast internet and sleepless nights of Warcraft 3 and Counterstrike tournaments.
