Through a post on its Google Plus page, Google has announced that it’s getting rid of the Nik Collection’s $150 price tag and making it free for everyone to use.
For the uninitiated, Nik Collection is an image enhancement tool that comprises of seven plug-ins (Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Dfine, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro, Silver Efex Pro, and Viveza) developed for photo-editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Elements, and Lightroom.
The company behind the software tweak, Nik Software, initially priced the desktop suite at $500. The photo-editing plug-in gets a significant price cut when Google acquired Nik Software back in 2012, dropping the software’s price down to $150.
Nearly four years in to the acquisition, the Nik Collection is seeing yet another price cut. This time though, the search giant is allowing pretty much anyone to download and use it at no charge.
Now for those of you who have shelled out a pretty penny for this plug-in, you can expect a full refund in the next few days.
