Google went shopping again. I just got an email last night that Google has acquired Jotspot. They are currently in the process of moving JotSpot to Google’s software architecture. Thus, they have turned off new registrations.
Why Google Acquired JotSpot?
According to Joe Kraus (JotSpot and Excite co-founder), Google shared the same vision with them and that is how people can collaborate online. And they would make a good combination together for Google already have something to help people collaborate online such as Google Docs & Spreadsheets, Google Apps for Your Domain and Google Groups. The only missing thing here is a Wiki.
For what price?
The price is undisclosed but according to an article, it is rumored to be bought at 50M USD.
