At midnight tonight, August 22, Globe Telecom will start handing out thousands of iPhone 3G to subscribers who made reservations earlier. During a press briefing earlier this afternoon, Globe assured that they are ready for any possible issues on the launch date.
Subscribers may claim their iPhone 3G in 3 ways:
- Line up at the Makati Stock Exchange (starts 10PM tonight) and receive their units at the stroke of midnight.
- Have Globe Telecom deliver their units to their address starting midnight (August 22).
- Subscribers may visit any of the nearest Globe Service Centers to pick-up their units.
Barely a week before the official launch date, Globe also announced price reduction on both prepaid and postpaid plans (see new pricing schedule here). The 8GB iPhone 3G is now Php37,599 for prepaid (no contract) and Php43,799 for the 16GB white or black models.
Globe has also partnered with credit services to offer zero (0%) percent interest on deferred payments for up to 12 months.
Globe opened 5 new postpaid plans specifically for the iPhone 3G which include allocations for SMS, voice, 3G and Wifi hours. Entry-level plans cost php1,599 per month.
