When I briefly chatted with HTC Philippines Country Manager, Mr. Mark Segio, a couple of months back during an HTC Mozart event, he hinted that they will be launching their flagship superphone for 2011 in the third quarter of the year. He told me it was the HTC Pyramid which was later named as HTC Sensation.
Looking at the HTC US website, we get to see how the HTC Sensation would be like (sans the T-mobile logo). We don’t know yet if it will be released as a 4G phone here in the country but it would be really nice considering Globe and Smart already have 4G implementation in select areas around the metro. Even though it’s going to be a 3G phone, other specs would most probably be the same compared to the North America version.
The HTC Sensation packs a 1.2GHz dual-core processor from Qualcomm making it at par with Samsung, Motorola, and LG’s superphones.
A very interesting feature here is the qHD display. At 4.3-inch display, it has a 540 x 960 screen resolution. The Galaxy S2 only has a 480 x 800 resolution on its 4.3-inch screen. The Optimus 2X has the same 480 x 800 resolution but on a 4-inch screen. iPhone 4 still reigns the pixel density war at a whopping 640 x 960 resolution on its 3.5-inch screen.
Is it thin? At 11.17 mm, it’s considered average in today’s standard since the Galaxy S 2 only has an 8.5mm thin body.
Anyway aside from those specs, the Sensation it has all the standard features of a premium HTC phone. You’ll also get an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash. The latest HTC Sense UI and all those HTC widget goodies. It also has an MHL A/V link in lieu of the usual HDMI port which is nice.
Hmmm, something to aim for later this year? The Desire S is going to be launched this week so I doubt if there will be news about the HTC Sensation anytime soon. The HTC Flyer tablet seems to be next in their plate after the HTC Wildfire S and HTC ChaCha gets here.
