When you think of rugged phones or phones made for active people, you would probably think of small, underpowered, pudgy phones. It’s very uncommon for high-end phones to have that ruggedized treatment but Sony is changing that with their Xperia acro s.
This 4.3-inch Android phone is molded from the Sony Xperia S but with an IP57-certified tough exterior that is immune to dust, can survive being submerged up to 1 meter under water for 30 minutes, and has a shatter-proof glass panel. All of this in an elegant-looking body that Sony phones are known for.
Powering the Xperia acro S is the same 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor found on the Xperia S. It also has the same gorgeous 720p HD display as that of the Xperia S, and same 12-megapixel camera featuring Sony’s mobile Exmor R lens. It does however, only have 16GB internal storage but you also get the option to use a microSD card which the Xperia S lacks.
The Sony Xperia acro S will be launched this month according to Sony Mobile PH. However, if you’re itching to get one so you can take photos of flooded areas in the rain without worrying about your phone’s safety, online seller Widget City will have it this week for Php24,350 or you can add Php1,000 to have it in white or pink.
