Epson just announced the Moverio BT-350 and Moverio Pro BT-2200 smart glasses launch.  Tailored for commercial and industrial users’ improved augmented reality experiences, the new Epson Moverio Smart Glasses come with enhanced durability and flexibility.

Both models feature binocular, see-through augmented reality capabilities, and HD image quality. Through the Moverio smart glasses lineup, Epson seeks to leverage its patented optical and precision technologies. Both units tout micro projectors on either side of the glasses. These project transparent overlays of digital content directly in the user’s field of view over the real-world environment.

Epson Moverio BT-350 Smart Glasses

Designed for a busy, commercial environment, the Epson Moverio BT-350 functions with multiple-user deployment in mind. In addition, it comes with a first-of-its-kind docking station for easy device management.

Epson designed the BT-350 glasses with heavy usage and multiple user sharing in mind. For more immersive experiences, they also come with ease-of-use and accessibility. Moreover, as opposed to previous models, its enhance build durability and flexibility offers better adjustment capabilities. This way, the smart glasses provide a more comfortable and secure fit.

The Epson Moverio BT-350 fits perfectly in an environment filled with a variety of users, such as museums, city tours, amusement parks, or other visitor attractions.

In addition, the BT-350 also provides real-time visibility to remote experts working with technicians in installations and repairs. On the other hand, this proves useful for users being trained on high-value capital equipment, especially in the medical, logistics and manufacturing fields.

Built as the first of its kind for commercial use, the BT-350 offers a convenient, multi-unit docking station. This allows users to easily manage the smart glasses management. In addition, it also enables the smart glasses to be charged and updated at the same time for managing multiple devices simultaneously.

Siew JinKiat, Epson Singapore, Regional General Manager (Southeast Asia), Printer, Visual & Wearable Products Division, Epson Singapore, shares how design and wearability complement the BT-350’s commercial capabilities. Whether or not they wear glasses, several visitors can fit the device comfortably for long periods of time. This comes from the durable build and features designed for comfort.

The design emerged through collated feedback from customers and projects, JinKiat adds. Epson’s focus on a wide range of commercial and industrial applications with the Moverio range sets the brand apart from competitors.

Moverio Pro BT-2200 Smart Headset

Built specifically for helmet-mandatory environments, the Epson based the Moverio Pro BT-2200 on a rugged and durable platform.

To provide informed support and training, workers in various locations see exactly what their counterparts are seeing through augmented reality overlays. Specifically designed to fit over front brim helmets, the smart headset comes with a new hinge. This makes it an ideal device for hazardous, helmet-only work environments, such as construction sites.

The Moverio Pro BT-2200 incorporates sensing and connectivity features. These enable a wide range of augmented reality technology, useful in manufacturing, logistics, maintenance and other fields. It also comes with built-in, standalone voice commands and and user interface creation capabilities based on head-tracking and gesture-control.

Apart from these, the smart headset also features removable batteries, a wired control pad, and an ambient light sensor. For precise location to accurately detect workers’ movements, the device comes with GPS and deploys an inerial measurement unit (IMU). To enhance precision in indoor positioning, the glasses also come with Bluetooth LE, beacons, and Wi-Fi.

The smart headset also complies with ANSI Z87.1 safety glass standards. It boasts IP54 certification and withstands dust and water, and can survive a fall from 1.2 meters.
