When Cherry Mobile brought out the 4.0-inch Flare last year for Php3,999, it hit the sweet spot for budget-conscious Filipinos and made it an instant bestseller. Until now, the CM Flare is still a phone that’s being sought after, even our Flare review is still getting hits and comments.
But this post is not about the Flare but an alternative for those who can’t find one. The CloudFone Excite 402d looks to be patterned from the Cherry Mobile Flare in terms of specs and design. It has a 4.0-inch WVGA touchscreen display with glass covering the front. The only difference would be the three-button configuration below the display opposed to the 4-button one from the Flare.
The Excite 402d also supports dual-SIM, and has the same 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage configuration. At the back is a 5-megapixel camera but without a LED flash compared to the Flare. Other than that everything’s pretty much the same including the 1500mAh battery.
The CloudFone Excite 402d also retails for Php3,999. I asked the folks from CloudFone how they differentiate the Excite 402d with the CM Flare and all they can say is that if you want a phone in the same class but without the headaches people encounter from the competing brand, get the Excite 402d.
