While the technology certainly impresses many, not everyone wants or needs a phone with all the bells and whistles. Especially for older users who simply wish to call and text, using smartphones might be a bit of an overkill. Some would also rather not deal with all of the hassle, and stick to the basics. Well, people not too keen on using smartphones will appreciate the new Cherry Mobile V2.
Unboxed, each V2 comes with the following:
- 1 Cherry Mobile V2 Main Unit
- 1 Cherry Mobile Brand Charger
- 1 Cherry Mobile Brand Micro USB Headphones
- 1 Cherry Mobile V2 Quick User Guide
For a relatively low-end phone, Cherry Mobile certainly built the V2 with proper materials. It comes in a unibody metal chassis and a glass panel in front. The phone also feels extremely light, and its narrow frame helps its user keep a steady grip.
On the back of the phone sits the Cherry Mobile branding, two plastic antenna bands, and no camera. Since Cherry touts this as more of a dialer and multimedia consumption device, it makes perfect sense.
Turning the phone over, a single button sits below a glass panel, where the 1.5-inch TFT display and capacitive buttons are located. This only button invokes the home function, and also doubles as a power button.
Much like any old feature phone from back in the day, the V2 comes with pretty much bare-bones software. It includes apps for messaging and making calls, and a dedicated Bluetooth dialer app for connecting to a smartphone. For the audiophile, the V2 also comes with its own media player and e-book reading capabilities.
For just Php 1,500, the V2 doesn’t seem so bad, especially for those who don’t survive on smartphones. Its compact design and portability set it apart, and make it a perfect companion if all you need in a phone involves calling and/or texting.
