Yesterday, Filipino-brand and John Lloyd-endorsed mobile phone manufacturer, Cherry Mobile announced their first smartphone which runs on the latest Windows Mobile platform. The Cherry Mobile Eclipse is probably the cheapest WinMo smarthphone out there at only Php9,999.
The Eclipse runs on a 416Mhz MTK processor and the standard Windows Mobile 6.5 platform. No customizations whatsoever on the OS but the basic version still packs a lot of features including Microsoft’s mobile data backup service, My Phone.
Unfortunately, connectivity is a bit limited for this smartphone due to the lack of 3G. It’s 2-megapixel camera may seem lacking for some people as well.
What would probably make people consider this smartphone is its dual-sim capability and the sub-10k price. The Cherry Mobile Eclipse will be available some time in the first quarter of this year.
