Earlier this evening, Cherry Mobile finally unveiled their Android phones. We were surprised to know that they will be introducing not one, but three new Android phones and all of them are still affordable. Well not dirt cheap.
Cherry Mobile is a local brand known for their cheap dual-sim phones and nobody expected that they would take on the smartphone market. But they had bigger dreams and one of them is what they call their Red Label collection, their set of affordable high-end phones beginning with these new Android phones.
Enough intro, onto the phones!
Cherry Mobile Nova
This is their entry level Android 2.1 phone that rivals the Samsung Galaxy 5 and LG Optimus. It’s as basic as you get in terms of your Android feature set but also includes the basic necessities of a smartphone.
- Android OS 2.1 (Eclair)
- Qualcomm 600 MHz processor
- 3.2″ capacitive touchscreen (320 x 480 pixels)
- 256MB RAM expandable up to 32GB via microSD
- 3G, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps
- WiFi 802.11 b/g
- 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash
- GPS/AGPS
- Bluetooth 2.0
- SRP: Php11,490
Cherry Mobile Magnum HD
Funny name I know but it matches this big badass of a phone with a sleek gun metal finish. It reminds me of the HTC HD2 and is bigger than the Sony Ericsson Experia X10 which is ideal for watching HD videos. Most of all, it already comes with Android 2.2 (Froyo) and navigating on its big screen was fast and responsive.
- Android OS 2.2 (Froyo)
- Qualcomm 1GHz processor
- 4.1″ WVGA capacitive touchscreen (480 x 800 pixels)
- 512MB RAM expandable up to 32GB via microSD
- 3G, HSDPA 14.4 Mbps
- WiFi 802.11 b/g
- 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash
- 720p video recording
- HDMI-D Type
- Front facing VGA camera
- GPS/AGPS
- Bluetooth 2.0
- SRP: Php18,990
Cherry Mobile Superion
Lastly is the star of the show, the Cherry Mobile Superion tablet phone which is the first of its kind in our country. It is not just a tablet but also a phone and is filled with a lot of cool features.
Its 7″ screen is ideal for playing games, surfing the net, watching videos or reading books. You can also turn it into a 3G modem to connect to your laptop or even use it as a WiFi hotspot if you’re the sharing type. Oh yeah, you can make calls with it. Just use a Bluetooth headset unless you want to put it into speaker phone for everyone to hear.
The only drawback on this tablet/phone is its 600MHz processor but you can’t argue with its price.
