It was just a little bit more than a year ago that Cherry Mobile entered the Android scene with the launch of their first three Android phones, the Cherry Mobile Nova, Cherry Mobile Magnum HD and their tablet Cherry Mobile Superion.
Today, after many more Android devices in-betwee, it was time to do a refresh of their first three Androids. They launched the dual-sim Cherry Mobile Stellar, the dual-core Cherry Mobile Magnum 2X and their newest and affordable 7-inch tablet, the CherryPad Turbo.
Cherry Mobile Stellar
The Stellar follows the success of their Orbit which came from the same mold as of the CM Nova but with better specs and comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Aside from the dual-sim/dual-standby, the Stellar boasts of a bigger 3.5″ screen, faster 800MHz processor and a bump in RAM.
- Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
- Qualcomm 7227T 800Mhz
- Dual Sim/Dual Standby
- 3.5″ HVGA Capacitive Touch Screen
- 512MB internal storage
- 512MB RAM
- MicroSD Slot up to 32GB
- HSPDA/3G/WiFi/WiFi Hotspot/GPS/Bluetooth
- FM Radio
- 5MP Camera with Flash
- Lithium Ion, 1500 mAh
- Php7,899
Cherry Mobile Magnum 2X
Front-lining the show is the first dual-core Android phone from Cherry Mobile, the Magnum 2X which is somewhat an upgrade from the Magnum HD. You’ll get a smaller screen than the Magnum HD but it has a higher screen resolution to go along with the dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor. It still runs on Froyo but if things go as planned, we’ll see the Gingerbread update by the end of the month.
- Android Froyo 2.2
- 3.8″ WVGA capacitive touch panel
- NVIDIA Cortex A9 dual-core 1GHz processor
- 8GB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD
- 512MB RAM
- WiFi, Portable WiFi hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth
- 5 megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera
- Lithium Ion, 1500 mAh
- Php15,899
CherryPad Turbo
If you find the Superion not too “œsuperiony” with its 600MHz processor, the CherryPad Turbo easily solves that. This 7-inch tablet reminds of the the first Samsung Galaxy Tab with the wide bezel on all sides. It features a 1.2GHz processor, 4GB internal storage and a measly 2-megapixel camera. It also runs on Android Gingerbread although we heard that they’re planning to upgrade it to the more tablet-centric Android Honeycomb. Unlike the Superion though, this one’s strictly WiFi.
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
- RK291B Cortex A8 1.2 GHz processor
- 7-inch capacitive touch panel
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB internal storage
- up to 32GB via microSD
- HDMI port
- 2 megapixel rear camera, VGA front
- WiFi 802.11 b/g
- Bluetooth 2.1
- Lithium Polymer, 3500MAh
- Php6,899
This is not the cheapest tablet they have though. The ordinary CherryPad goes for P3,899 but with a 7-inch resistive screen, Froyo and 800Mhz processor.
These three Android devices are already available in the market so you might want to check them out in Cherry Mobile stores to have a feel for them.

Sir available na ba ‘to sa mga CM booths? Pumunta kasi ako sa cyberzone megamall. Wala pang cherry pad na display yung CM booth don.
Ung CherryPad Turbo meron bang access sa android market? And ung P6899 ba tlga ung mgging price nya kapag for sale na yan?
yup may access sa market. yan yung introductory price nila. baka magbago (tumaas or bumaba) once tumagal.
anu bang chinese version ang cherry pad, wala kasing reference sa manual about sa detailed specifications nya.. thanks
Wopad 7
Worth it ba ang cherry mobile?, diba sayang ang pera
dami nagsasabi worth it dami rin naiinis. i haven’t really used one for a long time to comment. but for specs – price ratio ok sya.
Sir, I am tempted to get the new magnum 2x… pero sobrang masama experience ko sa cherry mobile orbit… bk pwede po maglabas po kyo ng detailed review nitong mga bagong cm phones 🙂 napakalaking tulong po para sa aming mga gadget fanatics on a budget 🙂 sayang din po kc ang 8k para sa stellar at 16k para sa 2x kung biglang meron din pala lags at hangs at phantom taps kagaya ng cm orbit… sana po pati battery life at sound quality maisama sa review 🙂 salamat po 🙂
sge will take those into consideration when reviewing the magnum 2x. thanks!
hi calvin, do you know the battery specs of these cherry mobile phones and tabs? I wonder how long the battery lasts for these phones especially the cherrypad turbo. Thanks.
hey man, updated the post with the battery ratings. the turbo would last about 6 hours daw according to CM.
Thanks Calvin, you’re the man. 🙂
By the way, is this the norm for tablets? Sorry I haven’t owned one yet. My sony xperia lasts 2 days at most (if i don’t use it that much), but I find it’s a must to charge daily. My other older phone, the one before that lasts about 5 days. It seems battery life is getting shorter and shorter due to the touchscreen component of these devices. For me, I think, 3500mah battery is already high, and yet it only reaches about 6 hours? I wonder when can they invent cellphones that can charge through solar energy? hehe.. that’s wishful thinking from me. If they did it before on calculators, why not on cellphones?
Again thank you for your informative blog. I am one of your followers and I check and read your blogs everyday. Keep it up man. Thanks.
India came up with a tablet worth $35 that can also charge via solar. Built specially para sa mga mahihirap na students nila. Although Im sure mababa specs nun at performance wise malamang di ko magugustuhan but you’ve gotta admire yung effort hehe. Sana tayo sa Pinas may ganyan din.
Oo nga, I agree with you. Thanks.
battery rating on the original galaxy tab is 4000mah, for bigger tablets its 6000mah+
ah okay.. lagi ko kasing nakikita yung sa mga phones, I forgot that tablets require more energy. I wonder how long does the battery life for samsung galaxy tab with 4000mah last? How about the bigger tablets? Thanks.
well you can search our site for a review of the samsung galaxy tab (7-inch and 10.1 inch) and asus transformer.
tanong ko lang sir,I’m planning to get one as a gift this x-mas for my son. sa inyong honest opinion ok kaya performance neto compare sa joy pad ng kingcom at sa cd-r king ?sa price range kasi di sila nagkakalayo, although capacitive touch yun sa cd-r king at sa cherry pad turbo.hope you could set me to the right path regarding this, and thanks.
sir. just wanna ask if- on your own pt. of view
which ones better? cm superion? or cm turbopad?
of course the newer turbopad is better.

masama ang signal ng Sun sim sa Orbit, any feedback sa Stellar?

Good reception (Sun) on my stellar, 4 bars. =)
Ask ko lang if the Internet Connection exclusively accessed only via Wifi?
nope… you can also use your mobile data connection
am eyeing on the stellar this holiday. am having thoughts on the specs. Does the Stellar have a G sensor, Proximity sensor, and Light sensor. And also can the Stellar view document files like word, pdf, powerpoint? am asking this queries cause I am a Professional on a Budget!
Cherrypad has rear camera???? but when we go there, there is no rear camera, only front???
Hhmm stellar cant view the word.pdf.or powerpoint strllar is a nice phone but i have a problem in terms of battery….masyadong mbilis mglobat….
