Cherry Mobile has always been dedicated in bringing its customers products that suit their lifestyles. With security becoming a growing concern these days, the Cherry Mobile Iris might just be what they are looking for. Here is our Cherry Mobile Iris first impression and initial review.
Cherry Mobile Iris first impression – For your eyes only
At first glance, the phone looks good. Despite the full plastic body, the Iris actually looks stylish with the metallic finish. It’s easy to hold, as it does feel smooth in the hand. There is a heft to it but it is not really a problem. If anything, this trait is typical of smartphones at this price point.
The key feature of this phone though is the iris scanner. It was rather challenging registering my eyes to the device. Still, despite that, so far the phone is pretty easy to use, thanks to its OS. Packed with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the UI is pretty smooth and responsive. As for specs it is, powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor. That CPU is matched by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM. However, I can only use 4GB of storage as preloaded apps take up half of the 8GB. Still, it is a good thing that it can expand to 32GB with a microSD slot.
Camera-wise it has an 8MP rear shooter and a 5MP front cam. Plus the phone is powered with a 2,300 mAh battery, so we’ll see if it keeps up with a busy day or not. Lastly on connectivity, the Cherry Mobile Iris only has 3G, no LTE connectivity. Overall, the phone leaves a positive first impression and I’m excited to see what it is capable of.
